Why review the account?
Business rates accounts can change many times.
Changes to liability, reliefs, exemptions and retrospective adjustments can sometimes leave potential historic overpayments or account discrepancies unresolved.
We review the account history and, where appropriate, work directly with the relevant Billing Authority. This service is separate from challenging a property’s Rateable Value and can be undertaken even if you already retain a rating agent.
If we have contacted you
We understand that an unexpected call or email about a possible overpayment may raise questions.
We contact businesses where initial analysis indicates there may be historic overpayment opportunities worth reviewing. Before making any decision, we encourage you to verify our company and professional credentials independently.
Clear from the outset
How the review works.
A straightforward process, explained before you authorise us to proceed.
Initial account check
We explain what our research has identified and why the account may merit a closer review.
You authorise us
You decide whether to proceed. Our fee and terms are agreed before any work begins.
We investigate
We examine historic billing information and deal directly with the relevant council.
Recovery, if due
Any refund is paid to you. We invoice only after the money has been received.
Your money stays under your control
Any refund goes directly to you.
We do not ask the Billing Authority to pay your refund to us. Only after you have received the money do we invoice our agreed success fee.
No upfront recovery fee
If no recoverable overpayment is established, there is no recovery fee to pay. Many straightforward cases can be resolved in around 2–3 weeks, although the timing depends on the council and the complexity of the account.
A useful answer either way
What if nothing is found?
If we find that there is no recoverable overpayment, we simply close the review and no recovery fee is charged.
Independent reassurance
Verify us before you instruct us.
We believe you should know exactly who you are dealing with. RICS regulation means independent professional standards and rules of conduct apply.
